Abdurahman deserves an apology!

(on the eidm article on decentralized government and clarification to the
Asayed response) By
Hailemariam Tesfai

Eidm did not have a well researched and declared position on the type of system that should bein place in eritrea until the the 5th conference held in May 2003. all opposition organizations believe in establishing a "democratic" system after the fall of the current authoritarian system. which may mean nothing more than a wish for a lawful constitutional governance. In our meeting with efdm in kassel festival and joint communiquéé 2003, there was a confusion emanating from the diverse views that we entertain within eidm. a skillful management by the then secretary of public relations Mr.. Teklai Abraha ended in having a controversial communiquéé noting "decentralized unitary" which then upon a unilateral request by efdm was removed from the agreement. That measure saved Mr. Abraha's frustration because he was already in trouble by many of our members who were critically for unitary governance and nothing else. The issue was then briefly discussed in our conference and viewed for an elected provincial governments and people's council or baito in each of the 8 already declared provinces before independence of the nation. during our discussion in Stockholm and London in the summer of 2004, i emphasized on, the commonalities than the differences between us but did not mention federal states at all. i also added that eidm believing in decentralized unitary government was a step forward towards creating a more autonomous regional governments. and we, both organizations were closer than they were duringtheir communiquéé in 2003. i believe with serious and continuous debates, and upon consulting with our people, we will settle with a better system suitable for our multi ethnic, and cultural diversities. but no one can impose or rule without each others consent. it is regrettable that Mr. Abdurahman Asayed was undeservingly name called, and a proper explanation and response is duly warranted. this episode can not stop our friendship, and our brethren was tested for generations in the past, and this will hold true for generations to come. no double standard, eidm did not tolerate such an article before, and should not now or in the future.
